ActionAid is a global federation working for a world free from poverty and injustice
They want to see a just, fair and sustainable world, in which everybody enjoys the right to a life of dignity, and freedom from poverty and oppression.
The Brief
ActionAid engaged us in 2022 to recruit three key positions on their newly formed Executive Management Team as part of an organisation-wide transformation process. Reporting to the CEO, these roles had both a Global and Regional mandate.
Our Services
- Executive Search
- Leadership & Advisory
The Global and Regional Leadership remits made these roles unique, so finding exceptional candidates with vision and drive was crucial. Our consultants conducted calls with stakeholders across the AAI federation to build a clear brief – a key part of our process that leads to a successful search. Red Sea consultants worked together to find a broader pool of candidates and worked with the CEO to build a team of qualified, global leaders with complementary skill sets. The goal was not only to find individuals with proven track records but also to ensure diversity in perspectives and experiences. The appointed candidates would play a vital role in shaping the future of ActionAid International and its mission.
Our successful recruitment efforts led to the appointment of a dynamic Executive Management Team, two of whom were women and two were leaders from the Global South.
The appointed candidates were: In Africa, Peter Kamalingin, former Pan Africa Director Oxfam International, in Europe/Americas, AAI’s Ana Alcade and Razmi Farook, Former Head of Office Sri Lanka UN RCO.
The successful recruitment of this Executive Management Team not only marked a crucial step in ActionAid’s organisational transformation, but also emphasised the commitment to diversity and inclusion. With a team equipped to address global and regional challenges, ActionAid is well-positioned to continue its impactful work toward creating a world free from poverty and injustice.
