Executive Director
Oxfam fights for a future that is equal, just and fair – one in which all people have more equal opportunities and rights, and one in which we can all thrive, not just survive.
Oxfam International (OI) is seeking to recruit an inspirational strategic leader as Executive Director to lead Oxfam’s transformative agenda.
Oxfam has embarked on a journey of transformation, aiming to enhance its governance, structure, and business model with a feminist and decolonial lens. This entails fostering a more equitable global distribution of power, ensuring deeper connections with the communities it serves, amplifying its global, regional, and national impact, and improving its capacity to share knowledge and insights. These changes are geared towards facilitating the transformation of a ‘changed Oxfam’ that is a relevant and credible partner on high quality programs while fostering accountability and enhancing financial and operational systems through a feminist and decolonial framework.
The Oxfam International Executive Director (OIED) will lead the OI Secretariat (OIS) to effectively carry out its functions in support of the Oxfam Confederation. The ED will lead transformational processes to strengthen the Oxfam Confederation, drive a vision of a confederation of equals, and ensure effective mechanisms for implementation of its collective agenda and strategic priorities. Furthermore, the role will represent Oxfam at all levels internally & externally – inspiring not only Oxfam staff but also people around the world to believe in Oxfam’s values and join an invigorated movement to bring progressive change. This ambitious role is one of significant breadth and influence, combining strategic vision and leadership, external representation and influence and effective operational co-ordination.
The OIED reports directly to the Chair of the OI Board, leads the OI team Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and Oxfam International Secretariat staff. The OIED chairs the Executive Directors Forum.
